Orders

Cody and I had a good long talk about what it would take to keep him in the military. At this point, it was either a)Get a spot in the Officer's program or b) Get orders to move overseas. We decided that unless he went officer or unless we were stationed overseas, it's not worth it to stay in at this point.

I was *just* complaining to someone about not being able to leave even though Cody has put in for every shithole year long assignment out there. I got a text message in the middle of talking to my friend. All it said was something like "GOOD NEWS!"

"You go orders?" (it's a running joke)

"Yeah actually!"

Cody got orders for a year alone in Korea. We debated about accepting them or not (and he doesn't have enough time in service left for them to force him to go unless they make him go sooner or unless he extends/reenlists) and we finally decided that because we can pick our follow on tour, he will accept the orders and stay in the military.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about it to be honest. The thought of being stationed overseas again is exciting. We were told if we put in for England, we will most likely get stationed there. The other two places we're looking at are Italy and Germany. If he goes to Korea, he will get his follow on orders before he leaves and we (the children and I) can move there while he's still in Korea.

It's a little scary to think about honestly. Living in England by myself with two kids. They'll be school aged though (OMG Wes is in Kindergarten starting in 08) so it won't be as rough as it would be if they were littler like it was when he deployed from Japan and Wes wasn't even a year old yet. I have mixed emotions about him staying in the military as well and how that will effect us later on.
