We're here
Okay long post ahead. Probably several actually.
We started our trip to Seattle and had to wait 4 hours before we even got on the flight. 8 hours in to the 10 hour flight Wes threw up several times on himself and my pants. Luckily I had spare pants for both of us in our carry on bag and a new shirt for him. It was so not fun trying to change my clothing in one of those tiny bathrooms on the plane. It's bad enough trying to pee in one, let alone changing myself and vomit boy.So we get changed and a couple hours later the plane lands. We had a lovely layover in Seattle and got to visit the USO there as well. The volunteers were fantastic with the boys and were just so nice to us. Really really helped at that moment. I called my parents to let them know my plane was on time and then changed both boys again and we went to get our tickets.
Apparently the weight limit had changed from 70 lbs to 50 lbs so my 60 lb bag wasn't 10 lbs. under, it was 10 lbs. over. Wonderful. Nevermind that I only checked that one and a 10 lb. bag and was allowed 6 bags. The lady checking them was a total bitch about it. Just huffing, rolling her eyes and acting like I was a huge inconviences. Then Wes started crying his eyes out because he was tired and Zach fell asleep on the chair waiting for me. Then Wes grabbed some lady's leg and cried at her to pick him up. She was a really nice grandmotherly sort and picked him up and pat patted him. Yay. go her. It really helped.
So then we waited to get on the plane and they let us board the plane first. We sat in the very back (literally) and I sat in the middle of our three seats. The boys were both laying their heads on my lap and asleep before we even got the plane boarded all the way. woohoo. The flight attendant gave us some pillows and blankets and even helped me cover up the boys. It was a pretty quiet trip to Las Vegas.
My mom picked me up in Vegas and it took me 30 minutes to get to the luggage area. She was getting worried about us and actually didn't even see us coming down the escalator. The boys both squealed like pigs when they saw her and went running to give her hugs. It was very sweet.Drive to Lake Havasu and had an uneventful time there which was pretty nice.
Then I left a week later with my dad and my boys to drive the car dad gave us to MO. We stopped at the grand canyon on the way and it was awesome. Well worth the time out of our way. I got some great pictures of the canyon and one of my dad and Wes that I thought looked awesome. We took umm.... 3 days I think to drive to MO and it was great. The boys were fantastic riders and were mostly good on the drive over. It was nice seeing some states I haven't seen before and talking with my dad.
We got to MO and got a hotel room on base. I went looking at houses and really didn't find any in the area that I liked and we could afford. I kept looking with the realtor and the only house that grabbed me need a lot of work that we just couldn't afford to do right now plus it was at the top of our price range.
So Cody and I decided to wait a year or so and look again. I don't want to rush in to buying a house just to have one. And I honestly don't mind waiting because our house on base seems nice so far. We got a house on base right away and moved in Oct 31 just in time to meet the neighbors while we trick-or-treated. The previous people here had made a room in the basement and so I have a craft room and the boys have their own rooms which is great. We have another room in the basement that is only halfway completed and then we have oh another half or so of the basement that isn't done at all. It's a huge basement. I could hold crops down there and not be cramped.
We bought Zach a new bed (bunk bed actually) and it got delivered today. I also go permission to paint the fugly faux wood cabinets in the kitchen and the craft room in the basement. We're supposed to be the last people in this house because it is getting torn down somewhere in late 2006 or early 2007. woohoo. So I've been painting up a storm today and I'll post photos when I'm done.
Zach has started school and that was just fantastic. We got his school transcripts and his K teacher said he was immature and not ready for kindergarten. Pissed me off because she always told us how smart he was and how well he was doing. Totally blindsided me. Then I had a parent-teacher conference with his new teacher and she just kept saying how smart he was, how well he fits in, how he listens so great in class and answers questions, how smart he was.... did I mention he's smart? Totally made me feel better and she was shocked the other teacher said he wasn't ready. He still cries in class a lot, but Cody was the same way so i don't really expect it to change.
We've been settling in as best we can, but we have no household goods yet so it's been hard. I am enjoying MO a lot more then I thought I would though. Our neighbors are all really friendly so I've bought curtains right away I like friendly, but I don't like kids peeking in my windows of my door. I'll post more later, but for now my hands are cramping from all the typing
