Greetings from the land of vomit
My poor big tiny buddy has been so sick lately. He throws up at least once a day (hasn't yet today thank god). We called to get an appointment and as usual we could only get a telephone consult. I can't wait until we move back to the states and this telephone consult crap is over.
Anywho, I didn't actually talk to the doctor. I got to talk to an assistant because guess what! They only have ONE pediatrician for the entire base. Yes, that's right. A base of 12,000+ and one pediatrician for this week and we get TWO starting next week. What a crock of crap that is. But I digress. Apparently there is a stomach virus going around. The assistant mentioned he should have diarrhea as well and I said no because he never poops anyway. So that brought up Zach's many poop issues.
Boy was she mad. We were told at his last appointment that it was no big deal and it's just normal poop issue due to potty training. Umm okay. They totally brushed off our concerns. The poop issues worsened and we couldn't get in to a see a doctor and in a fit of anger I posted to my girls about it. One of them happened to do medical transcription work back in the day and hooked me up with some websites about encopresis. That's ZACH! I swear he fit every single thing on the list. So we started trying to fix it ourselves and it's better, but not fixed.
I explained all that to the assistant (well except the online part, people here still don't grasp posting stuff online) and she got us an appointment for Tuesday to be seen by a pedi that specializes in poop issues. It'll also be his well child check up and a follow up for the vomiting. Fun filled day that'll be.
I do think that part of Zach's size issue (he's very small for his age) is linked to his poop issue. Yes Cody and I were both small children, but I know now that he is never hungry because of how much poop he has in him. So if we got the poop out more often then he'd eat more food and have more everything he needs to help him grow. You'd think instead of being dicks about his size and poo-pooing my concerns about the poop issues his doctors would look in to it, but nooooooo I'm on a military base.
