VINDICATED On my mold issue

The BE guy came today. He spaced off the 10 am appointment, but came by at 1:30 and was very sorry he spaced on us. No problem, he vindicated me so he can be as late as he wants.

He took one look at the mold in our vents and said "That's mold!?! I've never seen mold grow in these vents before, but that's mold." VINDICATION YEAH! He said it was odd that we have no visable mold like on the walls etc., but we have mold in the vents.
So I told him about the bathroom. The people that lived here before us said it grew around the toilet and up the walls and that all the floors in the bathrooms match the kitchen. Well the floor in there doesn't match so I peeled some of it up (shoddy work made this easy) and the floor is black and flaked off making it hard to put the flooring back down. Oooops. I told him how the HO lady said the subflooring would have been replaced if it was an issue, but I thought if it was black and flakes off and pushes in when I touch it that it needed to be replaced. He said I would be correct. VINDICATION AGAIN! Woot

Next he checked the insulation downstairs in the basement. Almost all of it is water damaged and needs replacement. "They should have done this before you moved in to the house." He found one not damaged and showed me the difference (which I already knew) and said he'd need to bring his LT. to come see this.

There is also mold growing around the vent corners in the basement. This mold was "rust" or "dust" yesterday when the HO inspected though.

I showed him my photos and my petri dish growing green fuzzy stuff (it's amold kit from walmart) and he said he'll need to take his own photos and bring his LT to see this. I told him what HO lady said about the cleaning of my house, he said he didn't see what else we could clean and that my cleaning habits were not the issue. He said that it doesn't look like *we* could have done anything to prevent th e issue and have done the best we can to fix it.

He's calling Cody at work to set up a time to come back and take photos. He also gave me a huge packet of info on how to go about this issue and is sending a letter of his findings to HO and us. He stressed that I needed our neighbors to call and set up an appointment as well because their mold issues sound really bad. In case I haven't typed it out before, our neighbors have mold growing from the walls and HO painted with KILZ over the mold and then painted the wall. Their little boy (9 or 10) is handicapped with epilepsy and asthma. He has enough to deal with in life without the health effects his house is having on him (which are exactly the same as my children).

So Vindication and the ball is going in the right direction. Woohoo
