Doing his own laundry
We're still having issues with Wes peeing his pants. He's almost 5 and gets so caught up in what he's doing that he won't go use the potty. There was also a time when he didn't want to die at his game so he'd pee his pants instead of dying. He finally figured out that if he peed while playing games, he no longer got to play them. If he died while he went to the potty though, he could at least come back and try again.
Yet he continues to pee his pants because he's too in to what he's doing. I've tried all sorts of punishments but aside from the initial crying, it didn't do much.
Last week Wesley started having to help with laundry. We had a big long discussion that I was no longer washing, drying, folding and putting away all his laundry just so he could pee in it all day long. This came after the day he used up SIX pairs of pants and hid them when they were peed in. So now Wesley gets to help me put his laundry in the washer. I move it to the dryer and he gets to take it out and put it away all by himself. His first load of folding took him over an hour to do because he kept leaving it to go play, watch tv etc. We'd send him right back to the laundry and he ended up in tears. He cried out at me that it was no fun to fold laundry ALLLLLL day long. It sucked.
"No kidding Wes? You think I like to spend hours folding laundry all day because you're too lazy to use the potty? Maybe if you didn't pee your pants so much, you wouldn't have to much to fold."
He's been helping do laundry for the past week now and I've seen vast improvements on the pee in the pants. Apparently taking away from his play time effects him more then taking away toys. Thank God because I don't think I could have handle it calmly for much longer.
