Spelling Bee

Mr. Zachary had a cold test for the spelling bee the other day. They weren't allowed to study the words and had to spell 30 random words from the spelling bee list. He spelled them all correctly!

This is huge. At the beginning of the year Zach earned very very poor spelling grades. As in zero to five out of fifteen. We've worked with him, his teacher has worked with him, his oma has worked with him, and now he's one of five kids in his class to do the spelling bee. We're very proud that he even qualified to represent his class and he's pretty excited about it.

He's also become a reading fiend. He reads very very well even when he's reading something outloud for the first time. Oma wrote him a letter and he read it out loud with no stumbling at all. He's also reading something like three to six chapter books a week... maybe more.

His teacher said that he's been working hard, but quickly on his class work so that he can have time to curl up on the couch in the room and read a good book. She said he's really blossomed over the past year and that she's enjoyed having him in her class.

I think we're very very lucky to have had her this year. She's an awesome teacher and really knew how to handle any situations with him.
