Our first telemarketer calls have started

Yester day we got one asking for the homeowner. It went something like this:

me: Hello?

Pause

me: Hello? (slightly agrivated voice now)

thick accent that sounds like Abu from the simpons: Hello. Can I speak to the homeowner?

me: um... no

Abu: why not? (very aggrivated voice)

me: because I don't own this house and I don't want whatever you are selling.

Abu: Did I say I was selling anything. Nobody mentioned selling anything... (in a practically yelling at me voice)

me: I'm sorry, but you are not allowed to call the house of someone who's name you do not know and speak to me in such a way. I am ending the conversation now, have a nice day.

*click*

I thought that was the end of it, but today we got a phone call specifically asking for Mr. or Mrs. Roberts. We've only had the phone number in our name for less then a month. How did they get it so fast? I said "this is Mrs. Roberts" and they proceeded to tell me about what a fantastic deal I can get.

For only $45ish a month for 20 months I can get 4 yes 4 magazines delivered to me each month for 60 months. They only charge the first 20 though and then from 21-60 I get them for free. AND not only that I'll get a watch with a diamond yes a real diamond at the 12 marker. Isn't it just a fantabulous deal? No? I didn't think so either.

I'm trying the "Can you hold on a second? I need to check with my husband if it's okay. It's a lot of money a month and he gets real mad if I spend too much. He doesn't hit me, oh no, he'd never do that. But I don't want to get in trouble with him. I am just a house wife after all." They've been on hold for about 20 min. now and I think I just heard the dial tone finally. OOoopps guess I couldn't get ahold of him fast enough what with no flash function or anything and no cell phone. Guess I'm just a silly housewife that got side tracked.

They just called back too and left a blank message on the answering machine. So if for some reason you call and I don't answer the phone, just leave a message and we'll call you back. And today Cody and I will have to get caller ID added to our phone bill.
