Hearts for Friends
Wes has a new student in his class. She isn't fitting in well yet and she gets upset when her mom leaves. When she first came to class, everyone kind of ignored her. Wes and I had a conversation about being the new kid and how sad he was when no one would invite him to play with them and how scared he was to ask. We talked about how that made him feel and what she must be feeling.
He put his jacket away, washed his hands, and invited her to come play with him.
Fastforward several weeks and she still doesn't like her mom to go and still is reluctant to play. Her mom told me the other day that Brianna was having a hard time that morning. Wes invited her over to the art center to make art with him. He then cut out a cute purple heart for her and said they should be friends. Her mom said it seemed to put Brianna a little more at ease.
He's a sweet boy sometimes. Isn't he?
