Baking bread and apple/pear crisp

Cody had a day off the other day and we spent part of the day in the kitchen with Wesley. Wes was able to bust out his peeler that Theresa sent him because he was such a good potato peeler at her house. I peeled most of the pears and apples and cut them up while Wes peeled the last pear. The pear was a little hard to peel though and he was becoming frustrated. He told me "I'm such a slow poke mom." I assured him we were in no hurry and he could take as long as he needed. He ended up asking me to help him about half way through peeling his pear.

Then we chopped them up and sprinkled them with a little cinnamon and sugar. Wes started snitching apples out of the bowl at this point. He helped me mix up butter, flower and cinnamon for the crumble and we sprinkled it over our apples and baked it. He also helped me make whipped cream and we all had some really yummy apple crisp once it was done. Wes was very proud of himself.

While the apples baked, Wes helped Cody make French bread. They followed the recipe exactly and it turned out pretty yummy too. We had it with some pot roast soup that I made from leftovers. All in all, it was a productive kitchen day.
