We're moving

We move around September 12 to another house on base. Saturday I went to a squadron spouse meeting and some of us were bsing about our houses and comparing horror stories. Apparently I won and a key spouse asked me to write what I’d been telling them down so she could talk to someone about it and maybe help us. She then called over the wife of Cody's squadron commander (her name is Janna) and Janna said she’d take the paper because she had a luncheon with someone else’s wife later that day. That person turned out to be the commander of CE’s wife.

Wednesday we got a call from housing asking for a meeting. Thursday we had our meeting with Jim (the man in charge of housing) and Jim was not happy because our house had almost nothing in it's file. The only papers in there were the bio-environmental report from a year and a half ago and it wasn’t even secured in the file. It was just kind of placed in there with no hole punches or anything. Jim was angry because there should have been more in our file. There should have at least been a follow through report saying they did what BE asked them to do and that they’d closed out that problem. So Jim hunted down things to flesh out our file and he had a meeting about housing not doing it’s paperwork correctly and used our house as an example.

Jim explained why they can’t move most people and that they are short 152 houses even with the new housing. He then went on to say that it just doesn’t make sense to keep us in this house. He told us that frankly it costs too much to keep fixing and that it’s pointless to keep us in a substandard house we should have been moved out of a while ago. He said in order to fix it, they’d have to spend several thousand dollars on a house that is slated to be torn down in a couple years to make way for new houses. So, we’ve moving.

Friday we went back and they have a house for us. We can start moving around the 12 of September. We drove by and it looks nice from the outside. It has a garage and a fenced in yard. It's just up the street from the base lake and we can call the current people living in it to ask if we can come see it sometime. Cody leaves the 10 of September and gets back on the 22 of September. Janna told me that they can have some guys from the squadron help us move and the housing office lady implied I could move over slowly if need be because it's not like they're moving anyone in to our house. I'll probably pack up while he's gone and wait to move it until he gets back so he has some say in where stuff goes.

The main thing is, we get to move. Yay!
