Give me the data

I saw this quote today and I loved it:
I no longer wish to own things. Just gimme the data.
I don't want dvd's, I want the codecs contained on them. I don't want books, just the info they contain. No more cds, just the mp3s please.
It's the ideas things represent that I desire, not the things themselves.

They were talking about their new Kindle they bought at Amazon. Apparently the screen of it looks just like a book and it can store something like 300 books. At one site, you can download classic books for 10 cents a book. TEN CENTS. wow. You can also use it to surf the net, gps, all sorts of things and you can download books instantly.

I think this would be awesome for Cody when he goes to Korea for a year. It's thin, it's light, it holds a lot of information and in the end, the information is the only thing he really wants.

You can also have up to 6 kindles linked to an account. So say we buy a book like oh Harry Potter, it can be downloaded to both our kindles instead of us either 1. arguing over who reads it first or 2. buying two copies like we've done before.

I think it would help with the massive quantities of books we currently own. How much more cluttered free would our house be if we didn't have rows upon rows of books that we actually do reread every so often. I think the adults currently own less then 300, but I don't think the boys own less then that.

I'll have to keep researching them from now until Christmas, but I think I found a perfect gift for him.
