in the zone (a post about me for once)
Topamax is making another apperance in our home. This time, it's at a lower dosage and I'm feeling okay. I haven't been able to take care of the house as well as I would like over the past couple months. Things have piled up in a way that puts me to shame. I've stuff things in closets and just not delt with them because I didn't feel up to it at all. I finally feel okay enough to deal with them.
When I visited Erin in November, I saw how she and her friends just passed things around once they had no use for something rather then try to sell it or just throwing it away. I finally started visiting the Airman's Attic (a store where everything is donated and given away for free). We've given tons away and yet this past week I've found tons more. I'm now in what Erin calls the zone. Just when I find I need something, it seems to come in to my life.
Take for instance the tea set. I found a tea pot at a store but that was all the store had. While cleaning out the kitchen, I found the perfect tea tray in the form of a pampered chef platter. At the airman's attic I found a set of 8 tea cups and a sugar dish as well. Now I just need to find some tea spoons as well.
The best part though is getting rid of my stuff. I found someone that needed twin sheets just as I was getting rid of perfectly good ones. I am finally ready to get rid of Wesley's crib and found out about a family that just came in moments before me looking for a crib. Their daughter is pregnant and they have nothing. Needless to say, I can relate to this scenario. I gave the Attic my number and I'm hoping they call me. I found someone else to take curtains that I finally realized will never work in this house, but they fit perfect in her house and work perfect for her color scheme. I found someone else to take the baby Einstein DVDs for their disabled baby girl and another person to take all of Wesley's baby clothing. The feeling though of getting rid of this stuff is just so much better knowing that someone else will have a use for it.
So it seems I'm in the zone. Stuff seems to find us when we need it and I seem to find someone for my stuff when it is time to get rid of it. So far I've cleaned out a whole closet in the hallway and can now put the vacuum in it. I've also cleaned out some containers in the basement that were full of papers. I have a ton of stuff to recycle now and it's a pity they no longer do curbside pick up here for recycling.
All this in preparation for what I hope is a move. I've hear rumors that they're moving our street within the next month or two and I don't want to have a ton of crap to move. So I'm weeding junk out bit by bit and if we don't move, well at least my house is cleaner.
