Photos and stuff

We had a lovely 4th of July party. Unfortunately, I didn't take a single photo. I know. Bad Amanda, bad.

I enjoyed most of the people that were there. My house received a lot of compliments and inquiries in to where I bought things or how I made them. This made me happy :)

The food went well. There are a couple items we'll serve again (like the cheese bubble loaf Cody made) and a couple we won't serve to this particular group of people.

Anyway, here's house photos of the things Cody got me for my birthday. They're decals from www.whatisblik.com in the threadless category. They're meant to go on your walls, but I didn't want to not have them anymore when we moved(they're one time use). So I painted canvases and applied the decals.

This set is "We are not Savages" and it's based off the book "Lord of the Flies." I love that when you drive behind our house and my windows are open, the savages are peeking through the window.




This one is called "Sad Psycho" and it isn't done yet. I had to use one of the two canvases I'd planned on using for Sad Psycho on the giant savage one instead. The second canvas will have the lyrics from a song called "I can't decide" by a band called Scissor Sisters. It was played in one of our favorite Dr. Who episodes. The lyrics can be found here. Our favorite lines come from the chorus :

I can't decide
Whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll probably go to heaven
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified

Anywho. The lyrics will be in slightly darker gray on the second canvas and it'll have the rest of the blood trail too. The heart mobile is cold dead black hearts to complete the lovely theme. Sad Psycho used to be by the front door saying hello, but he got weird comments so he's a little further in to the house now.

And these are some frames I picked up and redid. They're by martha stewart and were on uber clearance. Like $3 instead of $18. They're supposed to have ribbon around the edge and be a different color mat. I painted the mat and ditched the cheap ribbon because the ribbon was falling apart. Now it's just glass with some silver tape around the edge.
